ABOUT US

Aberdeenshire Saxophone Orchestra is a fun orchestra with a serious purpose. United by a love of the saxophone we welcome anyone of approximately grade two standard and above to come and play with us under the baton of our joint music directors, Cat Evison and Mike Brogan. Both Cat and Mike are saxophone tutors at several universities, thereby providing us with the highest quality instruction. ASO has a special focus on providing the opportunity of playing in an orchestra to the youngest players possible and in order to do this we can make easier scores available.
Joining ASO is a great start for youngsters wanting to pursue a career in music and several of our young members have recently gone on to take up places at music colleges and conservatoires.

We have a pool of saxophones of all sizes that are available for loan to members, allowing them to experience playing the less common sizes of instrument.
Of course we all benefit from the saxophone playing technique workshops that we also run.
Membership of ASO itself and these workshops are provided free to anyone under 16 or in full time education.

Every year we aim to put on at least one concert and we
engage in special projects and collaborations with composers and other groups as opportunities arise.
