The Orchestra

We provide an opportunity for saxophone players of grade two standard and above to play in an orchestra under the direction of our world class music director Richard Ingham

ASO has a special focus on providing this opportunity to the youngest players possible and in order to do this we have a special access program.

For those so inclined, we also offer the chance to experience conducting, arranging and composing.

This is particularly valuable for those wanting to pursue a career in music.

We provide a range of the less usual sizes of saxophones on loan to our members. This ensures that we cover all the parts of the orchestra and also provides the chance for players to experience different saxophones

ASO also run special workshop days both for our own members and any interested potential recruits

Aberdeenshire Saxophone Orchestra is a registered charity SC049599

Our membership is open to anyone of any age and a wide range of standards. Membership is free to all aged 16 or under and to all in full-time education. We charge a monthly membership fee to adult players with concessions available.

We welcome young players and instrumentalists who are new to the saxophone and, in conjunction with their tutors, can often offer support enabling them to join.
We have members from all over Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen city and increasingly further afield with some from Moray, Angus, Tayside, Perthshire and Glasgow.

New players are always welcome, get in touch here and come along, join in for a day and see what you think of us. There is no charge for this first session.
