Our Sax and Sing Xmas Carol event on 6th December made a lovely evening. We held this concert to raise money for the Archie Foundation- specifically for the Aberdeen Children’s Hospital Burns Unit.
We were joined by young singers from MJR Vocal Tuition and their coach Matthew Rose who all treated us and the audience to beautiful solo singing and encouraged the audience in carol singing.

Our guest conductor, Rachel Mackison managed the feat of conducting players, singers and audience all at the same time making it a memorable event.
The interval was filled with crafts and baked goods for sale in aid of the good cause and refreshments were enjoyed to the background music from two saxophone quartets, City Sax and Tattie Sax made up of members of the orchestra.
The next day, a group of eight musicians from the orchestra played at the Barthol Chapel Hub and this time we had members of Fyvie Choir singing with us and encouraging the audience to sing. Not that they needed much encouragement- there was enthusiastic audience participation. The former church had been beautifully decorated for Christmas by members of the Hub committee.
Proceeds were in aid of the Hub’s restoration fund and the event was supported by NEAT and the Church of Scotland.
