SAXcess Story ll - The Sequel

ASO does a lot more than simply get together to play music on saxophones.

We provide learning opportunities as well.

Last Saturday was a great example of the success of ASO’s policy of providing to our members a

chance to practice a variety of musical skills.

Our Ben Armstrong who normally plays Baritone sax in the orchestra had his debut outing as a

conductor for a public event.

Ben started with the orchestra as a beginner

player when he was a young teenager.

Now, after getting his first degree in music, a

distinction at Masters level and gaining

experience as a music tutor leading school

bands and orchestras he finally got the

opportunity to try his hand out conducting us.

All went very well. The occasion was the wonderful Huntly Hairst.

The varied choice of music, the gorgeous sax sound and even Ben’s jokes entertained everyone

and were greeted with enthusiastic applause.

Our other recent sucess story is one of our younger members, Euan

Hosie who took his grade 4 and gained his first ever distinction in a

saxophone exam.

He credits his ASO experience with that success.

Aberdeenshire Saxophone Orchestra is proud to be part of our

members’ success stories
